Gardening Tips
Annuals furnish a vivid array of colors during the warm growing season but suffer with fall frosts and die during our Michigan winter. Cutting off blooms as they fade will stimulate the production of more flowers. Hundreds of colors and varieties for both sun or shade.

Perennials return year after year. Varieties are available for sun, shade, moist or arid conditions and in a wide range of sizes and colors. Many need some protection during the winter months. Bloom times vary with the variety. Generally they will flower for a few weeks and provide lush foliage the rest of the season. Cut back dead flowers to stimulate root and leaf development. Most need to be cut back near the ground after dead in the late fall or early winter.

Trees provide a number of benefits to your landscape. We often think of cool shade or exciting spring blossoms but don't forget the environmental aspects of cleaning the air and providing food and nesting site for wildlife.

Evergreens and Shrubs can screen an unsightly building, protect your patio from gusty winds while adding colors and texture to your landscape. Many sizes and varieties to customize your surroundings.

Vines and Groundcovers are "icing on the cake". Annual or perennial varieties, many with fabulous flowers, provide extra color and form to your beds, fences or walls.

Mulches of shredded, chipped or chunk bark serve multiple purposes. Mulch retains moisture, combats weeds, controls erosion and adds another color/texture to your landscape.

Fountains and Ponds can releave the tensions of a hectic day with the peaceful sounds of water.
